The Foundry Has A Great Showing At The FGO
October 12, 2010
Previous Article | Next ArticleFirst off a big congrats goes out to everyone who competed this Sunday. It takes a lot to even step out on the mat, so consider that a win on it's own. Everyone did really well especially the people who competed for their first time. There can be a lot of nerves when competing your first time, and dealing with them is all part of the journey.
Now for a bit of a recap:
Bri took 3rd in her division. She lost to an awesome person and competitor who ended up placing first. She won her first match in the absolute giving up a HUGE weight advantage. She controlled the fight and stuck to the gameplan well. She lost her next match to the girl who would end up winning the absolute division.
Shawn as usual entered in about 130 divisions (haha) and did really well as usual. He had two fights where he fought a guy who had about 30 pounds on him and held his own. Shawn came home with a few medals as well. Nice job as always Shawn!
Bryce hulk smashed his way to another first place medal. To date he has had a clean sweep of all the Maine tournaments this year. He listened very well and remained calm and level headed through his matches. I will also add that he submitted all of them in quick time.
Jordan had a good first match and was competing for the first time. He went against a strong opponent that was very fast. Jordan had some nice submission attempts including an Oma plata and triangle. Jordan ended up losing on points.
Pat also was competing for the first time and did really well. His first match he did well in the stand up and once it hit the ground he never gave up on trying to recover his guard. His second match went a lot better and you could tell some of the nerves were gone. All in all a great first competition.
A special thanks goes out to Josh who had to pull out of the competition due to an injury, but still made the long drive down to support his team. That's teamwork!
Stay tuned for the Highlight video I'm working on.

I'm proud of all my teammates who competed. Props to Bri for stepping up in the Absolute, Bryce for winning his division (as always) both by submission and respect to Pat and Jordan for having the courage to step onto the mat for the first time. I know everyone took a lot from the experience.
Can't wait to see my armbar in hi-def!

The Foundry has ALWAYS had a great showing at whatever tournament we show up at, so this was not a surprise. Congrats to all (but I really wish I could have been there for Jordans's first time competing!).
Congrats again all, and remember to thanks your instructors for the knowledge and time they put in in preparation for these competitions.
